Truck Electrical Repair Services
Truck Electrical Repairs
Is your truck in need of major or minor electrical repair services? Perhaps you need to have electrical diagnostics run or a closer look at the critical components of your vehicles?
Electrical problems are the fastest way to kill your uptime. In a modern heavy-duty truck, you've got thousands of meters of wiring, up to 2.4 kilometres of wire, and one tiny break can shut down your entire operation. That's why electrical work is a difficult job for most shops. We don't just guess. The skilled technicians at Dieseltech perform a wide range of services, from electrical repairs to truck diagnostics, and have expertise in complex diagnostics and wiring repair.
Customer satisfaction and keeping your fleet in optimal condition are what we do best. Our team is trained in the electrical systems of commercial heavy-duty and diesel trucks. Whether you require roadside assistance or scheduled shop repairs, your electrical problems will become a non-issue with Dieseltech.

Common Electrical Issues
Some of the most commonly known problems that come up with a vehicle’s electrical system are attributed to a dead battery or blown fuses. However, the electrical issues that stop a heavy truck are often more complex than just a dead battery. Downtime usually traces back to specific system failures. For example, there are corroded harnesses, CAN bus errors, and more.
Let’s dive into some specific failure points:
1. Charging and Starting System Failure
This goes beyond a simple dead battery. The problem is often upstream:
- Alternator Failure: A failing alternator means the battery isn't being recharged, leading to power loss and eventual shutdown.
- Starter Solenoid/Motor Issues: Corrosion or internal component failure causes hard starting, or a complete "no-crank" condition where the truck won't turn over.
- Wiring: The wires connecting your batteries to your starting and charging system are just as important as the components themselves. The connections and wiring has to be clean, secure, and free from corrosion.
2. Intermittent and Buried Wiring Faults
This is the real headache. Faults that are hard to replicate cost fleets time and money:
- Corroded Harnesses: Especially common near the chassis, frame, or engine compartment, where moisture and road salts damage wiring looms and connectors. This causes intermittent lights, gauges, or sensor faults.
- Sensor and ECU Communication Errors: Damage to the CAN bus or harness wiring causes data signal loss, leading to "ghost" check engine lights or intermittent power derates.
3. Blown Fuses and Component Shorts
While a blown fuse is the result, the cause is what matters. We find the source of the short:
- Accessory System Shorts: Often traced to power-hungry accessories, trailer lighting circuits, or auxiliary components causing repeated fuse failure.
- Component Malfunctions: A shorted-out component (like a faulty sensor, pump, or relay) is often pulling excessive current, repeatedly blowing the fuse until the defective part is identified and replaced.
We will be able to run diagnostics to see the real electrical issues and address them efficiently.
